Experience

Where I've worked, what I've done

A compressed view of the working life — both the shipboard side and the software side.

Maritime / Technical

  1. Present

    Merchant Vessels — International Trade

    Electro-Technical Officer

Responsible for the electrical, electronic, and control systems aboard commercial vessels: navigation and communication equipment, automation and monitoring systems, and the high- and low-voltage distribution that keeps the ship operational at sea.

    • Planned maintenance and fault diagnosis across bridge, engine-room, and deck electrical systems.
    • Operational experience with PLC-based automation, monitoring, and alarm systems.
    • Cross-department coordination with engine and deck during sea passages and port calls.
    • Technical reporting and documentation as part of shipboard management routines.

Software / Product

  1. Ongoing

    Self-directed

Independent Builder — Software & AI

Designing and shipping small, focused tools — most of them aimed at problems adjacent to shipboard life, seafarer welfare, maritime education, and technical operations.

    • Full-stack web and mobile apps using Next.js, TypeScript, and React Native.
    • Applied AI: retrieval over technical documents, offline/on-device models, lightweight computer vision.
    • Prefers fewer dependencies, clearer code, and honest feature scoping.
    • Building in public when it helps others, private when it doesn't.

Certifications & Education

  • B.S. Computer Engineering

    Philippines

  • Electro-Technical Officer — STCW certified

Maritime Industry Authority / IMO STCW

  • Basic Safety Training & shipboard competencies

    Various accredited maritime training centers

Open to collaborations and technical opportunities.

I take on a small number of engineering and AI projects each year — mostly practical, often maritime-adjacent. Happy to talk if the problem is concrete.
